An active ski trip for adults - good food, an evening at the bar and rooftop relaxation with mountain views.
Available dates
Click a date - the price configurator updates automatically.
DAS SAAL is a short, intense trip for adults that makes perfect use of the calendar: we leave on 1 January and return on 6 January, so you only need 2 days of leave for 4 full days of skiing. The dates are also unusually convenient for the journey itself. On 1 January most people are resting after New Year's Eve, cities are calm and the roads are usually far quieter than on standard weekend trips to the Alps. And the drive comes straight off the A10 motorway, with no winding mountain switchbacks.
What sets this trip apart
- Three areas on one pass: the Ski ALPIN CARD combines Skicircus Saalbach, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier - together up to 408 km of runs and 121 lifts.
- 2 days of leave - 4 days on the slopes! The 1–6 January dates put travel days on public holidays, so only two days come out of your annual leave.
- Ski bus from the doorstep: free, stopping right outside the hotel. Leogang and the entry into Skicircus in about 20 minutes.
- An adults' hotel: loft design, box-spring beds, the panoramic rooftop sauna (Skydeck) and a barista bar open until 11 p.m.
- Easy-going socialising: a welcome drink, board games, poker, shared meeting points on the slopes and a drink at a mountain bar.
- A simple drive: straight off the A10 motorway, no winding mountain switchbacks. Salzburg about 60 km away.
- Maria Alm at hand: the separate Hochkönig pass and 120 km of quiet runs just 6 km from the hotel, if you fancy a day away from the crowds.
The hotel: urban comfort with mountain views
DAS SAAL is a modern, 4-star hotel in Saalfelden. It combines loft design, comfortable rooms and a calm atmosphere with good access to the region's biggest ski areas. The stay includes breakfast and dinner. Breakfast starts as early as 6:30 a.m., so you can hit the slopes early. In the evening there's a 3-course menu or a buffet, and the hotel bar stays open late. After skiing you can unwind on the Skydeck - a panoramic rooftop sauna with a relaxation zone and mountain views. Intimate wellness with no pools, but plenty of atmosphere.
Plenty of skiing - but no peloton
We don't lead one big group down the slopes. Participants form smaller crews by level, pace and the day's plan. QC Travel provides the platform to meet and plan together: we suggest directions, meeting spots, lunches on the slopes and points where groups can meet up during the day. On the first evening we invite you to a welcome drink and a meet-and-greet. After skiing there's room for board games, poker, a shared evening at the hotel bar or a spontaneous trip to a restaurant. On one of the sunny days we'll also invite everyone for a drink together on the slopes. Everything is optional. You can spend time with the group, ski in your own company, or mix the two.
The area: Skicircus day to day, the glacier for the keen
The heart of the offer is Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn - one of Austria's largest and most varied areas: 270 km of runs, 70 lifts, more than 60 mountain huts, snow parks and floodlit slopes. Add the scenic Schmittenhöhe above Lake Zell (about 77 km of runs) and Kitzsteinhorn - a glacier with guaranteed snow and a 3,000 m panorama. The areas aren't fully connected on skis, so you drive or take public transport to Zell am See and Kaprun, but the pass lets you switch freely depending on weather, conditions and mood. An extra option is the Hochkönig and Maria Alm area close to the hotel, available on a separate pass.
The price at a glance
The price includes, among others: 5 nights' accommodation, half board (breakfast and dinner), a welcome evening with a complimentary drink, QC Travel resident care, basic Signal Iduna insurance with winter sports cover, TFG and TFP contributions, access to the panoramic rooftop sauna and relaxation area (Skydeck), the free ski bus from outside the hotel, outdoor parking and WiFi throughout. Paid separately are, among others: travel, the ski pass, drinks with dinner, cancellation insurance, higher insurance limits, the tourist tax, the underground garage and additional hotel services. In the configurator you can also opt out of dinner and stay with breakfast only.
The best choice if…
Choose Das Saal if you want to make the most of the New Year calendar: two days of leave, four days on the slopes and 408 km of runs to cover. It's a trip for adults who ski a lot at their own pace, and in the evening want good company, a good bar and a sauna with mountain views.
Included in the price
Hotel Das Saal
Das Saal is a modern, 4-star hotel in Saalfelden, in the heart of Austria's Pinzgau. Simple loft design meets alpine character here: warm shades of taupe and gold, top-class box-spring beds and an atmosphere where everything unnecessary has been stripped away to make room for what matters. It's a place for adults who want to combine an active ski trip with good food, an evening at the bar and a moment of rooftop relaxation with mountain views. The hotel has a central yet quiet location: the free ski bus stops right outside the building, and in the evening the bar and Saalfelden's old town are within walking distance. Guests have comfortable rooms and suites, the panoramic rooftop sauna (Skydeck), a bistro and bar, a secure underground garage with EV chargers and fast WiFi throughout.
Meals
In our offer the stay includes half board (HB) - breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a rich buffet with regional products, bread, homemade bakes and eggs freshly prepared several ways. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, with gluten-free and lactose-free dishes on request. Breakfast starts as early as 6:30 a.m., so you can be on the slopes before everyone else. In the evening guests enjoy dinner: a 3-course menu of your choice or a buffet prepared by the hotel kitchen in a regional spirit. All day, until 11:00 p.m., the bar serves barista-made coffee and snacks - a good spot for après-ski or a quiet evening after skiing.
Skydeck and wellness
The heart of the relaxation area is the Skydeck - a panoramic sauna on the hotel roof, with a rest zone and a view opening onto the surrounding peaks. It's an intimate, "urban" take on wellness: no pools, but a sauna in a unique, scenic location and space to recharge.
The hotel's vibe and the area
Das Saal is a city hotel that never loses sight of the mountains. In the morning the ski bus leaves from the doorstep and you're on the slopes in around fifteen minutes; in the evening Saalfelden's old town, bar and restaurants are within walking distance. For a day off skis there's Lake Ritzensee with a walking trail about 10 minutes from the hotel, plus groomed, snow-cleared paths leading straight from the hotel. A good balance between an active day on the slopes and a calm, comfortable evening.
Practical amenities
A secure underground garage with EV chargers, a ski room with a boot dryer running all night - warm boots in the morning. Plus fast WiFi throughout, full accessibility for guests with limited mobility (step-free entrances, a lift to all floors, accessible parking) and pet-friendliness: four-legged guests are welcome (after prior confirmation).
Travelling with children
This trip is designed primarily with adults in mind, so we don't run an entertainment programme or childcare here. Families with children are welcome, though, and the hotel offers a few convenient options: Children up to age 2 stay free. Children up to age 10 can sleep in their parents' bed within a Classic room. We also have a limited number of connecting rooms - a convenient solution for a family that wants two separate rooms linked by an internal door. Due to limited availability, please mention this need when booking.

Region - Ski ALPIN CARD - Saalfelden
Hotel Das Saal sits in Saalfelden - in the heart of Pinzgau, at the foot of the majestic Steinernes Meer range, at a point from which you can fan out into three first-class ski areas on a single pass. The Ski ALPIN CARD combines Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun in one ticket - together up to 408 km of runs and 121 lifts. The heart of the offer is Skicircus - one of Austria's largest and most varied areas: 270 km of runs, 70 lifts, more than 60 mountain huts, snow parks, floodlit slopes and freeride routes, known as the "Home of Lässig". Add to that the family-friendly, scenic Schmittenhöhe above Lake Zell (about 77 km of runs, sunny descents with views of more than thirty three-thousanders) and Kitzsteinhorn - a glacier with guaranteed snow and a 3,000 m panorama on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The areas aren't fully connected on skis (you drive or take public transport to Zell am See and Kaprun), but the pass lets you switch freely depending on weather, conditions and mood. It's a choice for adults who want to ski hard and have real options - from wide, kilometre-long descents in Skicircus, through scenic Schmitten runs, to guaranteed glacier snow. Right next door, just 6 km from Saalfelden, lies Hochkönig – Maria Alm / Dienten / Mühlbach - a separate, quieter pass (about 120 km of runs) whose showpiece is the Königstour: a 35-km panoramic loop over 6 peaks.

Programme
This is a trip for adults who want to ski a lot but like having people with a similar travel style around them. During the day participants form smaller groups by level, pace and the day's plan, and shared programme points give you a chance to meet up regularly on the slopes and after skiing. We don't build a rigid morning-to-evening schedule. What matters to us is freedom, a good atmosphere and natural integration. You can come with friends, as a couple or on your own - and quickly find people you enjoy skiing and spending time with. Welcome evening: on the first night we invite you to a Welcome Drink and a relaxed meet-and-greet. It's the moment to get to know the other participants, discuss plans for the coming days and find people with a similar level and style of skiing. Meeting points on the slopes: depending on the weather and the day's plan we'll suggest shared meeting spots, lunches on the slopes and selected directions. That doesn't mean moving as one big group - everyone can ski at their own pace, and we meet up at agreed points during the day. Evenings: board games, poker, the bar. After skiing there's time to rest, have dinner and meet up casually. We have a big collection of good board games, and for those keen we'll also run a poker night. Not every evening has to be shared - you can join in, relax in your own company or spontaneously head out to a restaurant or bar together. How does the shared skiing work? We don't lead one big group down the slopes. Participants form smaller crews by level and the day's idea. Each day you can pick a different direction: the vast Skicircus, scenic Schmittenhöhe, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier or a quieter day in Maria Alm. Every element of the programme is optional - it's a trip with room for shared experiences, but with no compulsory team-building and no need to subordinate your whole day to the group.
